Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: HELP! Engaged to a Moroccan

There is not much anyone can say at this point. You are already pregnant for a Moroccan/Muslim. Are you prepared for your child to be brought up a Muslim? Will you be fine with your girl child losing her Western freedoms...the very freedom that we women have had to fight for to reach this point? If you deny his demands of how the child should be brought up, you run the risk of him or her being illegally taken from you when you least expect it. How long will you be happy walking around in a shroud? Why are you the one making the compromises? At this point, I will not touch on the physical abuse because I would be long gone after the first incident. I promise, it will get worse. Learn about Islam please.

Are you prepared to return to the USA and have your child without the father's presence or influence? That would be my advice to you.

Please believe all the things he said in anger. That's how they think and disrespect Western women because we allow it. His family is fully aware of the situation because they will also benefit from his getting a green card. Also the part about them not liking white women is a big joke. SMH. Morocco is no exception when it comes to skin colour and prejudice. They will tell you there are two Africas, the white/good Africa and the black/bad Africa. The migration of Sub-Sahara Africans to Morocco does not help either. Do your research on the topic and see what comes up. I must add, that when it comes to getting a green card, they can be temporarily blind.

In closing, I hope things work out well for you, despite the odds. Keep us informed please. Your experience will definitely help other people in a similar position.
