Free Societies are at Risk.

Reader comment on item: Weak Brits, Tough French

Submitted by Claudia Wilson (United States), Jul 13, 2005 at 07:57

This Pipes article gave me, an American, a perspective I needed concerning France. The French are pragmatic, selfish, and self serving. Good qualities when faced with the emerging threat of Islamofacists! The French wish to embrace their OWN identity and expect the same of their immigrants. This policy works in their favor. The Americans are dealing with problems of self identity between our rabid liberals and the conservative pragmatists similar to the problem in Britain. But as these two societies bend over backwards to accomodate their declared enemies, it is interesting how an exploding bomb and human body parts can suddenly bring around common sense. If Britain and America cannot bring themselves to make the appropriate decisions for self preservation, they do not deserve their own independence. They deserve to be fodder for the conquering Islamics. It is that simple. When political correctness is more cherished than the lives and liberties of its own people, a society has already reached its own level of self destruction. And interestingly, when these two nations are overwhelmed, under dictators, and the politically correct jailed or killed, France will continue to flourish in its own unique way.
