weak Brits, tough French

Reader comment on item: Weak Brits, Tough French
in response to reader comment: British multi-culturalism vs French pragmatism

Submitted by ghw (United States), Sep 4, 2006 at 13:00

To say that : "French Muslims will face reality and become good French citizens, proud to be French" [Octavio Johanson] strikes me as sheer fantasy.

And whether imams pray in French or not is entirely beside the point. Who cares? Once the French nation is gone, whatever language is still used there will be irrelevant. Is the language more important than the people?

I'm not suggesting that either the British or French position is better. They're both careening down the freeway to self-destruction. They're just in different lanes, that's all.
