What about Rifaat?Reader comment on item: Lebanon's Liberation Approaches Submitted by Alex (United States), Mar 3, 2005 at 01:55 I realize that this may be a very taboo subject, but what would Dr. Pipes say about Rifaat al-Assad replacing Bashar in a US or Israeli-led coup? A response to this comment would be quite informative to us all.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: Rifaat al-Assad has pretty much disappeared from the political scene; I cannot imagine his being a future ruler of Syria.DP Comment on this item
