In response to commenter John W. McGinleyReader comment on item: Denying [Islamist] Terrorism Submitted by Daisy (United States), Feb 16, 2005 at 13:05 Thank you, Mr. McGinley, for your comments. They have allowed me to focus my understanding more acutely. Your claim about the Beltway sniper most probably is an accurate description of the sniper's motives "...but his primary motive was good old vengeance against a former wife ..." However, I don't think we can separate that motive from his Islamist agenda. That Islamist's motive involved a former wife ... I wonder how many perfectly ordinary Muslim wives would, if they only could, identify the motivation of other Islamist terrorists as not being so awfully far removed from the Beltway sniper's hateful ends -- and not only for former wives, but current ones (and sisters, daughters etc.)? The Islamist hatred of women cannot be ignored if one is to realistically assess motivation. This is not to say that other people and things are not also broadly and specifically hated by Islamists. It's only to say that hatred of all things feminine by Islamists seems so clear as to be dangerous to ignore.
