Political correctness

Reader comment on item: Denying [Islamist] Terrorism

Submitted by Dan Katcher (United States), Feb 9, 2005 at 13:38

While I understand the need for societal norms and courtesy, ultimately, political correctness prevents us, and others, from correctly labeling problems for what they are. This has the intended consequence of our being unable to craft an appropriate solution for the problem thusly mislabeled. While this may be tolerable in lesser circumstances, our present situation is one of survival against a wiley enemy who uses our societal constraints against us. If 9/11 did not awaken everyone to what we're dealing with, I shudder to think what it will take to do so.
