Is there any hope for peace?

Reader comment on item: Gaza's Not the Key, Philadelphi Is

Dear Dr Pipes,

In your article, you displayed the cartoon which showed a Palestinian terrorist shooting from behind a baby carriage at an Israeli soldier in front of a baby carriage. If there is any truth in this cartoon --and there might very well be-- then can there be any hope for peace between Muslims and Israelis. As I read about the thousands of victims of fratricidal wars in Islamic countries, I tend to believe that Islam's challenge today is respect for human life of any kind (Muslim or otherwise). The day Islamic world starts having candle-light vigils for human beings who die due to violence, the day Islam will join the world community. If any muslims are reading this message, I hope this message gets some attention.
