Reader comment on item: Something Rotten in Denmark?
in response to reader comment: The Growing Racism in Denmark

Submitted by cai (Denmark), Mar 30, 2011 at 06:54

I am an Au pair here in Denmark from Phillippines and just last weekend I have experienced being discriminated because of my race of origin. My friends and I went to a disco tech in the walking street. We need to have fun we are far away from home. As soon as we enetered from the enrtnace and then went to the counter to pay and leave our jackets. A big guy (the bouncer) Tap my shoulder and said "Excuse me, you have to go out because you are from Philippines and filipina girls are prostitutes." he said straight to my face! If he don't want us to be there he should have just said that, it's full or were not dressed for a party. Because I was on my polo shirt and my friends were on jeans and long sleeves. I see a lot of girls who dressed up like hookers going in and out of the clud and it was okay. And all of a sudden my being a Filipino made me a prostitute. If I am going to translate what he said. It means that all girls in Philippines are wanna bucks! Prostitution is not even legal in my country. Maybe there are some girls 'who does it but we shouldn't have been generalized. There are also girls from other countries who happened to be a sex slave.

It was so sad for me beause I have always like Denmark the very first time I came here. But because of that incident I am somehow discouraged. But there are also good danish people, like my host family there are undoubtly nice. It's just sad for those people who discriminates others base on their race, because at the end of the day it doesn't make them more of a person.

why can't people just have an open minds and respect humanity
