the methodReader comment on item: Peace Process or War Process? Submitted by Charles B. Cohen (Canada), Sep 29, 2009 at 15:40 I agree with the points in your article about the peace process or lack thereof. You argue that Israel should concentrate on convincing the Palestinians that their goal is unacheiveble i.e. the destructionof the State of Israel. However you do not indicate HOW this is the be acheived. In previous wars when Israel won on the ground and defeated the arab states (the best example is the 67 war) The Arab countries passed the Khartoum resolution. The Palestinians have proven that they can manipulate their own public opinion so that a defeat is charascterized as a victory . I believe that the Gaza campign was in fact a victory for Israel. It did not convince Hamas that it had suffered a defeat. It made them smarter in P.R. Hamas now presents itself as a peacemaker because they offered a 10 year truce, after which no doubt they would attack again. To attempt to wage all out war in any conflict with the Palestinians ,or Hezbulla or Hamas would be seen as a war crime by the UN and the Arab and Muslim world. . I believe Israel is going to have to become much smarter on the information front and bombard western and world media with every Arab infraction of civil reight, every infraction of UN resolutions (eg. in Lebanon where Hezbullah is re-arming itself ) . IN this regard there should be an Israeli industry of Information that inundates the western press and mefda with the real; truth of the Arab perfidy. This would also include articles about the Jewish refugees in 1948 and Israel's settlement of the people, as well as contrasting this to the awful record of the Palestinians who hold their refuges to ransom for PR purposes and to gain large foriegn government grants, Charles B. Cohen Toronto Ontario etc. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
