No sense of humorReader comment on item: Away with Crucifixes, Crosses, and Christmas Submitted by Yosef (United States), Aug 7, 2009 at 10:55 About the German sports team song with Muhammed's name in it - Islamists (perhaps most Muslims, I don't know) have no sense of humor with regard to Muhammed's name. Jews are in large part totally fine with humorous references to Moses, Abraham, etc. as most Christians are with similar references to Jes. (And given the sheer volume of Christian people in America, there are lots and lots of references). Muslims do not seem to share the perspective. After all, Muhammed probably didn't play soccer much. This line is not blasphemy. (I don't know about the color reference, whether blue and white are special to Islam or not - I thought green was the biggie.) And the line is even respectful - he gets labelled as a prophet! By a Christian organization! I believe that this feeling was one of the underlying reasons for the reaction to the Danish cartoons. And in addition to Beethoven, as Mr. Pipes has discussed on multiple occasions, I really feel that modernization will come with a Western sense of humor.
