What's the difference between a patriot and a nationalist?Reader comment on item: Away with Crucifixes, Crosses, and Christmas Submitted by Dr Albert Schadenfreude (United Kingdom), Jun 22, 2009 at 19:04 A patriot of what? You can be a patriot of any cause or country. This word is so overused by Americans that they think it refers ti their nationality! When does patriotism end and nationalism begin? Did you know that the Nazis were German nationalist? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
