The 'Hellenic Cultural inferiority complex'?Reader comment on item: A New Axis: The Emerging Turkish-Israeli Entente Submitted by Bulent (United States), May 12, 2009 at 15:34 The truth is our friends to the West, the 'Megali Idea seeking' Hellenes suffer from a seemingly incurable case of cultural inferirority complex. The reasons in my opinion are as follows: ** The dream of 'greatness' in regards to Ancient Greece is REALLY a most 'ANCIENT CONCEPT' ... It is over and the Turks have nothing to do with it!, ** Greece is the most backward of all EU states whose GDP per capita was propped up solely by hand-outs given to her by the EU as Greece produces next to nothing of value other than perhaps olive oil ... even the ship-building industry has been far surpassed by the Turks, ** Nobody seems to listen to the Hellenes as Turkey is a far greater nation in the grand scheme of things with the World's 17th largest economy and the 6th largest military, ** Greece has lived under Turkish domination for more than four hundred years during which our Hellenic friends were able to transfer the Turkish cuisine almost in its entirety and decided to convince the rest of the World that it is 'Greek cuisine' :-) Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
