Politely... I strongly disagree

Reader comment on item: Is the Middle East "Freer, More Hopeful, and More Promising"?
in response to reader comment: The crux of the matter!

I happen to come from Pamplona, old capital of the Basque Country which resisted the occupation of the moors all throughout their occupation / administration of most of Spain from 711 to 1492 A.D. Although we didn´t really study the details at school, Navarra, as Castilla and other Christian kingdoms fought our ideas through the sword: as mere ignorants. It took us over 500 years to expel "our axil of evil" because we did it the wrong way.

Back in 711 when they disembarked for their first time in Europe (southern Spain) they did it the clever and less bloody way. That is why they where in Poitiers (France) by 732. Through pacts. Lets put religious beliefs to a side, and not get tangled in statements such as Bush´s vassal, Aznar, the former prime minister of Spain who did mention a few times that the "moors where just around the corner". We all know fear is a strong weapon.. especially useful among the ignorant. We should not forget about our crusades... was it really about "defending our values"? Is that the way you do it? Lets remember that we are our worst enemies, such as the human being is the most dangerous animal... the best thing we can do is have a few tapas and invite our enemy for a few drinks. Which is after all how Granada was lost to the Catholic kings... Good living pays after all. Such as living in ignorance.

And one last thing.. you say "Convert or die". Well the "moors" brought culture, it was us Spaniards who converted and killed ALL jews and arabs and stole their possessions. All to the glory of the All Mighty.
