What about Afghanistan?

Reader comment on item: Is the Middle East "Freer, More Hopeful, and More Promising"?

Submitted by sara (United States), Dec 8, 2008 at 17:42

I think that Bush's success in Afghanistan is meaningful, despite the fact that there are still terrorists, there is a stable government that is amenable to interaction with the west. This was not the case before 9/11.

Also, the newly democratic governments in both Afghanistan and Iraq are impressive, and a model to other Muslim regime potential overthrowers. I would like to think that the majority of Iraqis have a positive association with the US after all we have done there.

Poor G.W. Bush got hit with so much during his administration. He is a good man who has tried to do the best he could. He failed in some cases and succeeded in others. But he sure had one crisis after another. He deserves more credit than he is given.
