Khilafat is Not a Political or Human election... A khalifa is selected by Allah among the people.. though it seems that the Khalifa is being elected by Human Consensus, But remember that GOD himself elects a person..

Khilafat is not at all about ruling states etc... A khalifa is a Succesor to a Prophet.. so his job is to Continue the mission of a Prophet . i.e. Guiding people the ways and practices which leads to GOD's reward and will..
