In his excellent comments on why Islam is not compatible with democracy, a view I wholeheartedly share, Karl Ericson posted a webpage address of his creation with an incomplete address.

... The very nature of Islam. the deification of the Arabian 7th century lifestyle, makes it utterly and irrevocably incompatible with democracy.
Anything that threatens to move people away from the Haddith (and all western norms and philosophies do just that) moves them away from Islam's central core...the preservation of doing things and living life exactly as Mohammed did in the 7th century.
