Whether or not Sharon follows the plan he outlined last week is irrelevant. The fact he made a "defeatist" speech explaining that "Palestinian terrorism works....Israel is in retreat....and Israelis are fearful..." shows that under his "leadership," peace will certainly not be obtained. I believe he is setting a dangerous precedent for the years to come.

I don't believe true leaders should suck up to their various audiences, and do 180's on their long held views. Forget "staying on good terms" and diplomacy...we're talking about dead Jewish babies here. Israel deserves true leadership that do what they say and say what they mean.

Even if none of what Sharon said were put into effect, that fact that he made this "major blunder," is enough to spur the Palestinians to engage in more violence and to prove to them that their over 3 years of violence is paying off.
