Reputations - Ali

Reader comment on item: Muhammad Ali v. George W. Bush

Submitted by Sean (Spain), Mar 15, 2008 at 17:49

BBC Two once ran a series of documentaries about famous and historical figures which outlined a lesser known side to their characters. It was called Reputations. The series included figures such as Winston Churchill, Florence Nightingale and also Muhammad Ali.

In my youth I was a big boxing fan but after seeing this documentary on Ali I lost a lot of respect for him, particularly as it was claimed he celebrated his wins but hiring prostitutes for himself and his team. If he wanted to use prostitutes then that was his business but he shouldn't have at the same time pushed the whole muslim moral superiority thing.
