Standing up for Beliefs

I am all for standing up for your beliefs and making a stand, but that is not what Ali did.

He used his religion as an excuse to dodge the draft by stating that it was against his religion to fight, but he fights for a living. He obviously doesn't believe that fighting is wrong, so why say that just as soon as the war comes around?
