What goes around must come around if we want any respect at all in the worldReader comment on item: Turkey, Still a Western Ally? Submitted by Sully (United States), Dec 5, 2007 at 17:07 Turkey, our supposed ally and massive aid recipient for 50 years, spurned our request for troop passage and base usage rights when we deposed Saddam. All other issues became secondary when that happened. We will have, and we will deserve no credibility in the world if we fail to make the current regime in Turkey pay a heavy price for that decision. If they're going to take the country Islamist we can't stop it. But we can hold out a hand of friendship to anyone in Turkey who acts to prevent that eventuality.
