West is to blameReader comment on item: Turkey, Still a Western Ally? Submitted by Vijay (Switzerland), Dec 9, 2007 at 11:18 Thw western social and political policies have largely contributed to the weakening of secular ethos and increasing the Islamization in Turkey. Most western governments bend backwards to accomodate medivel Islam, be it tolerating burqa or medievel preachers in their home countries, or consistantly supporting radical Islam overseas. This kids glove aproach by western countries, including the USA, has pushed up the popularity of Islamism and Turkey and has weakened Ataturk's legacy.
