Saudi Arabia: Awash in Western money and technology

Reader comment on item: Uniting to Exclude Saudi Arabian Airlines

I understand that Bibles are confiscated and shredded at the Saudi airport. Compare to the outcry of "infidels" touching a koran. This double standard has to stop.

Saudi Arabia enjoys unprecedented profits due to the high price of oil. They buy all the Western technology they want. They enjoy all the benefits of Western culture while remaining steadfast politically and religiously in the 8th century. It is dismaying.

Many of the foreign terrorists in Iraq come from the Saudi border. Everything is a one way street for them. Aside from building wahabbi mosques all over the world, the Saudis do not contribute that much to international humanitarian projects. The tsumani of a few years back which actually struck mostly Muslim places saw very minimum contributions from Saudi Arabia. Their first offer was for a million dollars. I think Israel offered greater assistance.

They have everything their way and the US is so dependent on their good graces to continue pumping the poil that makes them so filthy rich, that we have to see Bush walk hand in hand with their miserable leaders in Crawford, Texas. Something must ne done to end this double standard.

If they want out money and our technology and all things material then they must accept certain basic understandings.

Arab culture seems to pride itself on accomodating "guests". Well, it's time the guests were allowed to keep their Bibles and other possessions while visiting rather than being strip searched and having those possessions taken and destroyed.
