Happening for a long time in the airports

It was happening from long time ago in SA airports; some of my family members did travel to SA for work purposes, and told the same stories, that Bibles were taken from them and shredded before them. I wonder why SA afraid from other faiths, and especially Christian or Jewish whom they called people of Book. There is famous saying I am not recalling it full, but the theme was, "truth is never afraid from others"
