Vilification of Islamism

Reader comment on item: Combating the Ideology of Radical Islam

Submitted by Don Van SICKLE (United States), Apr 15, 2003 at 12:29

It has become clear that the non-Islamic world has chosen to fight Islamism with a soft touch. In my view, fear of offending the Islamics and their fellow travelers is much too dangerous. We who believe that theocratic rule is the antithesis of the
western experience, perceive Islamism as totalitarianism with a thin veneer of religion.

An overt and consistent process of vilification of this destructive belief system can diminish the psudeo intellectual appeal to the masses, underclass and academia.

Islamism's hold over its adherents is based on exploitation, fear and uncompromising power. Society should make no concessions regarding dress, food or custom to the Islamic Muslim movement. This is, after all, a matter of choice of belief systems, not a racial issue.
