Reader comment on item: Why the Left Loves Osama [and Saddam]

Submitted by Sarah Karpman (United States), Mar 23, 2003 at 21:08

It's amazing to me how ...the others who posted all seem so sure of what the left thinks and how it works, because quite obviously nobody is a part of it. I am not a conservative; therefore I cannot know what a conservative thinks. However, it seems that there are a lot of mind-readers out there who can know the inner workings of a movement without actually knowing anything about it. Unfortunately for us all, however, is that misunderstanding and lack of knowledge are also the beginnings of hatred. When the left is so dehumanized as it has been in the article and posts, it creates a deep divide that does not need to exist.

There are many views that reside in this country, and while they may be widely divergent, the integrity and spirit and beauty of the country rest on their continued co-existence. If you want to understand the workings of a group or belief system other than your own, get your information and opinions from interactions instead of mistaken images - and remember that as an outsider you never truly have the right to generalize and summarize others.
