The Extreme left vs the "not-right"

Reader comment on item: Why the Left Loves Osama [and Saddam]

Submitted by Frank Burkett (United States), Mar 20, 2003 at 09:31

The analysis of the position of the extreme left is so accurate that it makes it seem almost obvious. The author is correct that their intellectual bankruptcy is largely due the inability to shed failed concepts. They cannot shed them because they cannot dare to question their validity.

The left as a whole, not only the extremists, has lost its way. The non-marxists have simply become a mob that disagrees with the ideas of the right. How sad. Its hard to have a serious public dialogue when one of the parties has no new ideas or merely says "no" to every proposition by the other.

To those who wish diplomacy was given a greater chance before the start of hostilities (twelve years of listening to Saddam saying he no longer had the SCUDs he launched this morning wer not enough), I say, "Take heart!" The most effective diplomatic device in the history of the world is about to resolve the situation in Iraq permanently: the US miltary.
