The failure of multiculturism

Dear Octavio,

The Stephen Lawrence case was an unfortunate abberation just waiting to happen; unfortunate in the sense that poor Stephen paid with his life. This dosn't make the british as a whole less tolerant. The failure of multi-culturalism is the greatest setback to harmonious relations in this country. It is true that the Govt. has been way too soft on muslim fundamentalists. I cannot believe that they allowed the likes of Abu Hamza and his ilk to preach their hatred for so long without recourse to law. Apparently, the French govt. long ago warned the brits about harbouring these terrorists, all to no avail. The brits took the view of better the devil you know. How we have paid the price... Saying these things does not make you a fascist, Octavio, merely a truthsayer.

regards, Raheel
