Reader comment on item: Government for Sale [to the Saudis]

Submitted by A. J. Nolte (United States), Dec 5, 2002 at 13:28

I'm certainly no fan of the Saudis, and would like to see serious action taken against them, but let's be patient and systematic: Baghdad, Damascus, Riyadh.

Iraq would be a good trading partner with which to replace the Saudis when Saddam is gone. Syria is currently propping up a Lebanese government with a Saudi puppet Prime-Minister, and supporting terrorism. Then, take action against Saudi Arabia, but do it carefully. Any really overt action now will destroy what little credibility we have in the Arab world. However, now would be a good time to start drifting away from Saudi Arabia.
