Legislation or media pressure

Reader comment on item: Government for Sale [to the Saudis]

Submitted by Asi (United States), Dec 3, 2002 at 20:31

There are two ways to solve this, one - legislation - is unlikely, as senators and congressmen can be bought before a vote. The other is only slighlty more likely, and that is to have considerable media pressure on the Saudi-Executive Branch relationship.

Unfortunately, when Saudi interests control such a large share of media conglomerate stock (such as AOL-Time Warner), it makes pressure difficult to achieve.

Hopefully in time, the story will be too big to ignore, but I'm not holding my breath.
