in response to reader comment: Islam NEVER spread by the SWORD.

The largest Muslim country in the world today is Indonesia --- and there were never any battles fought there!

Assim I think you must be drunk or totally kid yourself when you said that Islam has not spread through violence / sword in its history...especially you mention about Islam in Indonesia. You know what I happened to live there for 30 years and know Indonesia's history quite much and I know for sure that hundred years before Islam reach Indonesia, the people there were peace-loving, tolerant folks who adopted Hinduism, Buddhism and other traditional beliefs.

Hinduism and Buddhism were adopted as religions in Indonesia since the 7th century and there are still many old temples there to prove this. Islam reached Indonesia only around 11th century by some trading relationship with Arab merchants and in the beginning it was adopted by a few kingdoms / fiefdoms (like Aceh and Demak) but later on they made wars against the Hindu / Buddhist fiefdoms (Sriwijaya and Majapahit) and finally purged Buddhism and Hinduism from Indonesia.

Currently the non-muslim population in Indonesia is only around 10% of total population and only a small fraction are Hindu / Buddhist people.
