Margot -- I knew that, and it's a sad, but consistent development

Reader comment on item: CAIR Founded by "Islamic Terrorists"?
in response to reader comment: the nature of islam

Submitted by GW (United States), Jul 31, 2005 at 22:07

Margot, on July 30, 2005 at 18:53 you mentioned that Indonesia punishes those for trying to convert Muslims away from Islam, and that is truly an area of concern. It is against the UN Declarations of the Rights of Man, and there should be a UN outcry against this. I don't know why the world accepts the double-standard, since jihad and dawaat (prosletyzing) are the sixth and seventh pillars of Islam. And you are right, non-Muslims, particularly Christians, are being attacked more and more in Indonesia. So, I agree. But my previous comment was intended to correct the post that said that Islam was spread only through violent means. It also was spread by commerce.

There ought to be a demand that Christians and Jews and others be allowed to practice their faiths as feeely in Muslim lands as Muslims would like to practice in non-Muslim lands.
