I agree with you on this. The Syrian conflict is not one in which the USA should intervene.

But it has occurred to me, given the timing, that this attack does several things. One, it drops a not-so-subtle hint to Xi Jinping to refrain from pushing too hard on Taiwan or the South China Sea, and that he might also have a talk with his pudgy Pyongyang pal. It also warns the world that Trump is not Obama.

And what does this do to the meme that Trump is Putin's boy?
