Reader comment on item: [Freedom House report on] Saudi Venom in U.S. Mosques

Submitted by Michael C (United Kingdom), Feb 1, 2005 at 17:46

The way they deal with epidemics [and this is comparable] is to isolate the carriers so that the rest of the population stays healthy.

I'm surprised it is lawful to own/import such material [books tapes etc], and if so maybe the law should be reviewed. Words are the source of the infection here. They are used against the impressionable by the manipulative.

The West needs to clarify and market its philosophies, as an antidote to the venom. For example, humanism, liberty, equal rights need to be advertised rather than taken for granted. Maps of the world should be made which show, for example, the degree of equal rights in the countries of the world. The facts are all out there, not enough people are looking, instead too many people are led by the media, usually into an anti-Bush/anti-US cliche : Today on BBC r4, [the day after elections in Iraq] the lead story is US corruption in Iraq.

Will the root of the infection [in Saudi Arabia] have to be confronted before this epidemic is over? If so how?
