Why ascribe value to Farrakhan's paranoia?

in response to reader comment: Why to give such value to Farrakhan's paranoïa?

Submitted by Alan Silverman (United States), Jul 15, 2010 at 14:42

Several reasons:

1. It isn't paranoia, it is demagoguery, conscious and intentional, and vicious. It's also good for his business. He lives very well off of his feculent spew.

2. He has a large following who accept his words uncritically.

3. He has a newspaper, The Final Call, which I read regularly (but never close to mealtime) when I lived in his neighborhood years ago. People who read his paper believe what they read in it, no matter how preposterous it is -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakub_%28Nation_of_Islam%29

4. His minions infect, by non-disclosure of their relationship, even those who would never give credence to anything slimeball Farrakhan ever said directly. I know such a man personally, a physician -- educated and not credulous, who was so duped.
