Higher Morality response to Ianus

Reader comment on item: The Deceits of Bridges TV
in response to reader comment: Higher morality paving the way to tyranny.

Hi again, Jan,

This is quite lengthy (4 pages, single-spaced; I had to print it out to respond without scrolling up every few seconds), but here goes:

Yes, it's nice to know we stand on common ground, but I had surmised that's true in many areas.

I wouldn't discourage anyone from browsing Unger's or anyone else's writings. I don't find him credible. I haven't read his books and don't intend to. I have read some of his articles and found the types of subtle deviations from fact* that nudge me to put (such writers/pundits/etc.) on my "Pay 'em no mind" list. Given the promise of six hundred life-times, I still would be unable to read everything written by sources I believe to be trustworthy, so I simply don't fritter away my time on those I don't. But that's just me.

* Unger's discussion of LaHaye, an author of the "Left Behind" series, comes to mind. On the anti-Christianity front, I suspect but have no way to verify (other than the suspicious time frame) that a great deal of the venomous anti-Bush (43, George W.) hysteria began and stemmed from somewhat widely-held sentiments expressed in late 2001 (post 9/11) and early 2002 that some type of Divine Intervention was involved in Bush's election to the Presidency. Immediately following 9/11, one phrase echoed across this land: "Thank God Gore didn't win" (the 2000 election.

I know, I know, I didn't say it makes sense. I just said I suspect it.

There are a lot of entanglements between government entities here, particularly in areas of Defense and Military, and in the private sector. Of course there are; a lot of contracts are handed out, and there's a lot of money and business involved. Oops, sorry, I have to finish this later. Merry
