I suspect that although not sanctioned by United States Law, there are places that use sharia to advise Muslims and perhaps council men and woman to not seek legal help with marital problems or divorce. It is imperative that this issue be addressed, so that Muslim women can go to a safe place where they can get help with our legal system and talk with people who understand sharia law and can protect them from it harsher edicts.

As a sister of a woman abused by her husband, I can clearly state that when a man threatens a woman's life it is VITAL that the women be taken to a safe protected place away from harm where the man cannot reach her. Many times these woman do not understand the seriousness of the threat and the man can be persuasive and charming before striking. It is a sad state of affairs but only too true, that many women need to get completely away from the abusive man by leaving the state, because the abusive partner often find ways to insinuate themselves into the woman's life again, and the circle of violence often ends in tragedy.

I understand that this is not a picture of the majority of Muslim marriages, and the Non-Muslim world has it's own stories of physical abuse against women but it does not negate the fact that this needs to be confronted and something done before it becomes a common headline in the paper.

God bless this young woman and her family and she IS is paradise with a loving spirit that sees her for what she is a valuable soul beneath no one. I hope her little children are with loving people.
