I am afraid Hirschfield's words were more than just a 'faux pas'. Frankly, I'd love to have a glance into his bank account. I feel tempted to think he has received some Moslem (Saudi) "alms" to help him "correct" and "enlarge" his views on "what is intrinsic to Islam and what isn't". From the Saudi point of view it must seem quite logical to try to bribe the Jews too (or at least some of them to start with). It might seem even more effective than just buying guys like B. Clinton, G.W. Bush , D. Cheney etc. Why not use some bought Jews (not only leftist Jews!) against other Jews or simply to influence the public opinion ? Moslem treasure produces pro-Moslem hearts as the old wisdom teaches : "Where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also".
