Reader comment on item: Salvaging the Iraq War

Every war plan is perfect untill it hits the battlefield (Normandy/Bulge). I'll believe al Q & its splinter groups take. That Iraq is a theater in the global war between Radical barbarism & civilized coexistence. Our military effort has been hampered by rules of engagement, 2 different foriegn policies ( 1 by a us political party that wasn t in power) being conducted & heard by our enemies. Not to mention Saddams leverage over the UN security council via the oil for terror funding, logistics providing, mass graves program.

I do not believe the drum beat that the Iraqi theater is lost. But I do agree, that the training of Iraqi forces & citizens towards nationalistic pride in rejecting Radical terrorists, should roll on. I also agree that we & our allies have to always re evaluate the use of diplomatic, economic & military plans as they hit the battlefield in all theaters. This is not a 2 hour movie & I have faith in the Iraqi people. They will work through the in house paybacks & reject the outside radical influences. The co existence choice will become clear.
