Pakistan should have been the target and not Iraq

Reader comment on item: Salvaging the Iraq War

I have no like for Saddam Hussein but the thug that we know is far better than al-Qa3ida and Iraq is the wrong war at the wrong time. We need stability in the rest of the world while we fight the real enemy that happens to reside in Pakistan and that is the likes of Ayman al-Zawahiri which I believe is the real mind behind al-Qa3ida.

So what should the West do?

1. We are courting our enemy and that is Pakistan. Stop giving Pakistan any money or aid and go after the terrorists there. And yes get rid of Pakistan atomic bombs and industry .

2. We should be able to exploit the fact that Iranians have no like for the Arabs or for Sunni Islam for this matter. Iranians are not Arabs. And yes there is indeed state sponsored terrorism but I know of no Iranian that was involved in al-Qa3ida style attacks and I suspect that Iran would like to have a dialog with the west. They just want respect and appreciation for a great civilization. How about the mullahs? They will be out some day.

3. We need the likes of Bashar al-Assad in Syria and remember that the thug we know is better than al-Qa3ida, and we must be able to talk to him. It is all about dialog.

4. Iraq? It is too bad but the real victims of the iraq war are the minorities (eg: Christians, Armenians, Palestinians etc...) and the victims of the horrible sectarian conflic between the the Shi3a and the Sunni. I really have nothing to offer here.

So back to Paksitan: This is where we have all the evil.
