What's so innovative about the two-state plan? This has been the fondest dream of leftist and pro-Palestinian factions for decades? It will not produce peace, but an even more entrenched and intransigent enmity. Every Jew-hater in the Middle East will regard it as a great stride toward the final solution.
The only sensible plan I've seen is the Elon plan. There's a REALLY radical break. Bush should be fighting Islamism in places Israel cannot easily reach, like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He should leave the Israelis to deal with Palestine.
The two-state chimera will certainly influence the Bush presidency. It may even end it, next year, if things go as badly as I fear.
