HopelessReader comment on item: Throwing out the [Arab-Israeli] Rulebook Submitted by Matt Smyth (New Zealand), Jun 19, 2003 at 18:52 Is President Bush serious about the "Road Map"? Maybe. But it doesn't matter. In the present conditions there is no hope. Things have long reached a point of no return. The settlements, now the wall, the destructions, the evictions etc. will prevent any viable solution. The "Palestinian state" can be nothing but an open air concentration camp. The Palestinian rulers will be perceived by their countrymen as prison wardens. There will be no peace. The vast majority of the Palestinians will carry on their struggle, while the Israelis will carry on their project of establishing a 100% Jewish West Bank. There will just be more dead people. Finally, Mr Bush will blame the Palestinians for turning down another so-called "generous offer". It is sad that American journalists seem so ignorant of the reality of the situation in Palestine.Regards.
