a number of comments.
If you think all Israelis dream about is leaving Israel to live in a "Normal Western country" you are wrong. I for one, and many others lived in western countries, (the USA in my case) and have not found them to be Home, but a diaspora.
second, where is a Normal Western Country? Is the USA normal with the current invasion from the south and airplanes crashing into buildings? Canada where 75 Jihadi organizations are kicking butt in Toronto alone? Where a whole province wants to secede? Or frigid Norway whose population is so happy they are not having children? Or Holland, where 50K Dutch are leaving every year due to the home front Jihadis? Germany? That mythic Normal western Country is a myth indeed. We have been there for 2000 years, to our eternal chagrin.
I do not defend Israeli leadership. It is inept, corrupt, unruly, rather comical sometimes. It is unaccustomed to sovereignty, to the wielding of power. That's 2000 years of Diaspora which are hard to shake off. On the other hand, political violence here is minimal. One PM murdered, by a single individual. Look at the American civil war, look at the abysmal violence of American versus American 80 years after independence!!
Israel is better than the Israelites, and with time, a leadership worthy of the noble people will arise, because Noblesse Oblige.
