What is the western interest?

Reader comment on item: Rethinking the Egypt-Israel "Peace" Treaty

Submitted by Octavio (Italy), Nov 24, 2006 at 09:15

If I have got to choose between the Arab nations and Israel, I am definetely pro-Israel. At least, Israel is a democracy, with checks and balances. But there is something I cannot understand. What is the western interest in getting involved with all of this? Taking sides in the middle east might expose us to the risk of retribution from Muslims all over the world.
