Dr Pipes is being an American

Dr Pipes assumes some other means than violence will turn the Arabs from the road they perceive is victorious. In that Dr Pipes is a Jew, an American and a gentleman, something Arabs regard as a weakling ripe for rape, murder and mayhem.

But I agree. Extreme violence will serve no good end. A change of venue might. If every armed Arab and his Hamula was deported out of the Holy Land, for good, this might cool down the Jihadi fire to temperatures amenable to human discourse. But as long as they can hope for Anschluss, that is joining their brethren who are legal residents of the Holy Land, there is instilling a sence of defeat.
