If the French and Germans had not betrayed us, and if they had strongly supported the UN demands for complete cooperation with inspections, then Saddam would have been even more afraid and he would have buckled more, and would have been more cooperative about inspections, and then the inspections would have given the right answer in time, and we would not have had to go to war because of their inconclusive results. The perfidy of the French and Germans was a major cause of the need to go to war. Christopher Game
