Reader comment on item: Something Rotten in Denmark?

Dear Sword of Islam,

I thank you for your comments. I am really happy that both sides are now understanding each other's views. I agree with you that every religion and race has some extremists. Do you think we feel good when we see people attacking embassies? No! However, remember that most of these people are illiterate and semi-literate. They did not have chance to get good education, many of them have been in madrassas (islamic free schools, run by religious clerics). When educated people are angry, they express themselves in a civilised way- (like sending comments to BBC or similar sites). But most of these people on the streets do not have access to computer, they don't know what is freedom of expression. All they know is that they have to protest and they have to be heard...and when they are on the streets, they become unruly mob.

The day the first Danish Embassy was torched, my family and I attended a dinner at a Danish Engineer's residence. When we were having after dinner coffee at the living room, our host switched on the TV. I was so ashamed of the behaviour of my fellow Muslims.
My Danish friend commented that he also felt embarrassed when the cartoons were published. We then talked for a long time about things that could be done to make this world a better place for our children. We agreed that if this hatred doesn't stop, no body will live in a secured world.

What we need is more dialogue between different faiths and sects. My Danish friend explained that he and his wife invited us to teach their children that the Muslims were not enemies for them.

So we see that hatred will breed only hatred. We must stop this enmity. No one will gain anything out of this hostility.

I thank you for listening to us. I am sorry if I offended you in my previous comments. At that time I was new at this site, I did not read all of your comments and thought you were just provoking racial hatred. Now I understand that you were only asking for answers to some of your questions and no body was giving you the right kind of reply. I would request you to please ask more questions about Islam, so that we could get rid of the misunderstandings and hostility that exist between us.

Thank you.
