Wrong kind of freedom

Reader comment on item: Something Rotten in Denmark?

Submitted by Y (Saudi Arabia), Jan 30, 2006 at 04:25

Muslims around the globe were outraged by the offences targeting our Prophet Muhammed by a Danish writer and maybe by some others in Denmark. The freedom of opinion and expression preached in all Western societies inlcuding Europe should not extend to insult a great figure like Prophet Muhammed, considered by all Muslims (and many European writers as well) to be the greatest man who walked on the face of the earth. We have not heard of any Muslim insulting the Pope publicaly or making caricatures about him for example. All kinds of freedom end when you are about to offend others, whether by mouth or action.
