Rakshas commented upon British complicity in the Kashmir embroglio.

He is quite correct. Kashmir is the only part of India contiguous to a portion of Russia through Tajikistan. Russia - Czarist, Communist or Democratic - has for long wanted a slice of the Indian pie. If not actually engineering, but at least conceding illegal occupation of the vital part of Kashmir (POK, as it is now called), proven British wile probably thwarted any designs the Russians may have been entertaining to gain land-access to India.
