The shift Mr Pipes sees in the Jihadist climate is momentary. The weather-vane will quickly shift back to normal, that is, Itbach-al-Yahood.

in 1970 Yasser Arafat staged a bloody intifadeh in Jordan which had hosted him after having been ejected from the Land of Israel. King Hussein was no slouch in fighting the Palestinians tooth and nail, in fact, in grand slaughter, so that they escaped across the river to Israel. In Israel they knew they were likely to be incarcerated, but not slaughtered.

Did Arab Jordan learn anything from this near-miss? you can bet your booties they did not. when it comes to Jew hating, the need to Itbach-Al Yahood, the death of 17 guests in a wedding is a small price to pay. For lo those many years Moderate Jordan persisted in hosting the HAMAS high command, and other Heroic murder organizations.

Nor is this unique. Egypt learned nothing from the many attacks on Israeli and other visitors to the Sinai, its official media outlets are still as antisemitic as ever. The Saudis have suffered numerous attacks and still they condone the Martyrdom as long as it is directed against Jews. Do not let this momentary whiff of sense kindle any hope for Islamic Sanity. The Islamic holy wind is a Typhoon of murderous incentives, not to be thwarted by a few mishaps.
