Answer to JeanmarcReader comment on item: Palestinians Taste a Dose of Their Own Medicine Submitted by Carl Samet (United States), Nov 17, 2005 at 13:24 "...as people of a civilised society you should give us a break and give us time to adapt..."Sorry. You've had 1400 years. The rest of the world has wised up. Why should you get special treatment? "...we believe in the western ideals of life and of freedom." No, you don't. Otherwise your backward culture would have instituted Western rights and bestowed freedom on the 50 percent of your population you insist on keeping in chains (i.e., women.) Why are you so dishonest about this? "Arabs where living in more or less of a steady and stable state of tranquillity and peace before the midst of the 20th century when the need for oil arose after the industrial revolution." Really? Is oil the reason most Arabs refuse to accept the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state? Jeanmarc, instead of trying to convince the civilized world that it's reasonable for Arab culture to be dangerous and backward, why don't you expend your energies in forcing change in your own milieu?
